J. Roget Champagne was introduced by Canandaigua Brands in Canandaigua, New York in 1979. In 2000, Canandaigua changed its name to Constellation Brands. Although it is made in New York, it is allowed to use the appelation “champagne” as the United States only reached an agreement with the European Union to outlaw the term on its bottles in 2005. All wines previously using the term, including Roget, have been granted an exception.
