Krug Champagne was founded in Reims, France in 1843 by Joseph Krug. When he died in 1866, his son Paul Krug took over the company. Krug remained family owned until 1970, when it was purchased by Rémy Cointreau. They held it until 1999, when the brand was purchased by luxury group LVMH.
