Rutherford Ranch Winery was first introduced by Round Hill Cellars in St. Helena, California in 1979. At the time, Round Hill Cellars was owned by Ernie and Virginia Van Asperen and Charlie Abela. In 2000, Marko and Theo Zaninovich, who were previously shareholders in the business, acquired the company outright. The company has since expanded to include several brands, now known as Rutherford Wine Company.
