Migration Wine was introduced by Duckhorn Winery in Napa, California in 2001. In 2007, a controlling interest in the Duckhorn company was purchased by private equity firm GI Partners. They sold it in 2016 to TSG Consumer Partners, reportedly for $600 million. In 2021, they took the company public at $15 a share. In 2024, private equity group Butterfly Equity took the company private for $1.95 billion.
