Champagne Lanson was founded in Reims, France in 1760 by François Delamotte. His son, Nicholas-Louis Delamotte, took over in 1798, and later formed a partnership Jean-Baptiste Lanson. In 1837, the company was renamed Lanson et Cie. The company was family owned until 1980, when it was sold to the Gardinier Group. In 1994 the brand was purchased by Marne et Champagne, which renamed itself Lanson International. Two years later, the company was purchased by Boizel-Chanoine Group, and in 2006 that company renamed itself Lanson BCC.
