F. KORBEL & BROS

What does F. KORBEL & BROS Own?

F. Korbel & Bros was founded in Guerneville, California in 1882 by Francis, Anton and Joseph Korbel. In 1954, the company was purchased by Adolf Heck, and remains run by the Heck family. The company expanded throughout the second half of the 20th century to purchase other brands, but has since offloaded all other brands and has focused on Korbel. Although it is made in California, it is allowed to use the term “Champagne” because the brand was in use prior to 2006, when the United States signed a treaty with the European Union banning the use of the term for wines made outside of the Champagne region.
