BRONCO WINE COMPANY

What does BRONCO WINE COMPANY Own?

Bronco Wine Company was founded in Ceres, California in 1973 by Fred Franzia, his brother Joseph Franzia, and their cousin John Franzia. The three had been members of the Franzia Company, which that year was purchased by Coca Cola. The company’s name is short for Brothers and Cousin, after the relationship of the three owners.

The company began mostly as a grape grower for other company’s brands, but began to focus more on its own brands beginning in the 1990s. Their focus was on making wine at a low price point, and is famous for their Charles Shaw brand, sold exclusively at Trader Joe’s, which earned the nickname “Two Buck Chuck.”
