Waipara Hills Winery was founded in North Canterbury, New Zealand in 2001 by Lew Stribling. In 2006, it merged with New Zealand Vineyard Estates to become New Zealand Wineries. In 2013, The Waipara Hills brand was sold to Australian company Accolade Wine Company, which at the time was owned by CHAMP Private Equity. In 2018, CHAMP sold Accolade to The Carlyle Group.
