Church Road Winery was founded in Aotearoa, New Zealand by Bartholomew Steinmetz. In 1988, it was purchased by Montana Winery. In 2001, Montana was purchased by British wine company Allied Domecq, which itself was bought in 2005 by Pernod Ricard. In 2010, Pernod Ricard changed the name of Montana Wine to Brancott Estate.
