Brancott Estate Winery was founded in Auckland, New Zealand in 1944, originally as Montana Wines. It was started by Ivan and Amanda Yukich, Croatian immigrants to New Zealand. The company was expanded by their sons Mate and Frank, and was eventually listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. In 2001, Montana was purchased by British wine company Allied Domecq, which itself was bought in 2005 by Pernod Ricard. In 2010, Pernod Ricard changed the name of Montana Wine to Brancott Estate.
