Campo Viejo Wine was founded in La Rioja, Spain in 1959 by José Ortigüela and Bernardo Beristain. It was eventually purchased by Spanish wine giant Bodegas y Bebidas, which sold to Allied Domecq in 2001 for €279.2 million. In 2005, Pernod Ricard purchased Allied Domecq.
