Perrier Jouët Champagne was founded in Épernay, France in 1811 by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose Adélaide Jouët. The brand was acquired by GH Mumm, then a division of Seagram, in 1959. Seagram later sold the division in 1999 to US private investment firm Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst for $310 million. Those investors flipped the purchase to Allied Domecq the following year. The brands were finally sold to Pernod Ricard in 2005.
