G.H. Mumm Champagne was founded in Reims, France in 1827 by Jacob, Gottlieb and Philipp Mumm and G. Heuser. The wine house was purchased by Seagram in the 1950s. They later sold the company, along with their other champagne brand Perrier-Jouët, in 1999 to US private investment firm Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst for $310 million. Those investors flipped the purchase to Allied Domecq the following year. The brands were finally sold to Pernod Ricard in 2005.
