Meridian Vineyards was founded in Paso Robles, California in 1984 by Chuck Ortman. In 1988, the brand was sold to Beringer Winery, which at the time was owned by Nestlé. In 1996, Nestlé’s wine intrerests were purchased by Texas Pacific Group, a private equity fund that had recently purchased Continental Airlines. They held it until 2000, when it was sold to Australian conglomerate Foster’s Group, which split off its wine division in 2011 to become Treasury Wine Estates.
