Petaluma Wine was introduced in Woodside, South Australia in 1976 by Brian Croser. In 2001, beverage conglomerate Lion Nathan purchased Petaluma in what has been described as a hostile takeover. In 2016, Lion’s wine interests – including Petaluma – were purchased by Accolade Wines, at the time a subsidiary of CHAMP Private Equity. In 2018, CHAMP sold Accolade to The Carlyle Group.
