Manischewitz wine was introduced by Leo Star and brothers George and Meyer Robinson in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. After prohibition ended, the trio set up Monarch Wine Company and licensed the name from the Manischewitz Food Company. In 1986, the brand was sold to Canandaigua Brands, which rebranded to Constellation Brands in 2000. As part of a $1.7 billion deal in 2019, Constellation sold Manischewitz and 29 other brands to E & J Gallo Winery.
