Lindeman’s Wine was founded in Gresford, New South Wales in 1843 by Dr. Henry John Lindeman. In 1971, it was purchased by tobacco company Phillip Morris. They held it until 1990, when the company was sold to Penfolds Wine, a division of Adelaide Steamship Company. That same year, the wine division was sold to SA Brewing, which quickly split into three companies, with the wine division becoming known as Southcorp Wines.
Southcorp was purchased by Penfolds Winery Foster’s Group in 2005. In 2011, Foster’s split its wine holdings into a new company, which they called Treasury Wine Estates.
