Buena Vista Winery was founded in Sonoma, California in 1857 by Agoston Haraszthy. In 1863, he received financial support from a group of San Francisco bankers led by William Ralston, who became partners in the company. The winery went bankrupt in the 1870s, and the property was purchased by Robert C. Johnson. The property sat dormant throughout the depression and prohibition, and in 1941 was purchased by Frank Bartholomew.
Bartholomew reopened the winery and held it until 1968, when it was sold to Young’s Market. It was sold again in 1979 to German company A. Racke. In 2011, it was purchased by Boisset.
