Chateau Beychevelle was founded in Beychevelle, France in 1565 by bishop François de Foix-Candale. In 1709, it was acquired by Jean-Baptiste d’Abadie, and then later by baroness Delphine-Catherine de Brassier in 1787. It was acquired by merchant Pierre-François Guestier in 1825, who helped grow the brand’s reputation. In 1875, his heirs sold the estate to Armand Heine, whose family owned it until 1986, when it was purchased by Groupe Castel.
