Barton & Guestier wine was founded in Bordeaux, France in 1802 by Hugh Barton and Daniel Guestier, on the vineyards started by Barton’s grandfather in 1725. The winery remained owned by the two families until 1954, when Seagram purchased 50% of the business, followed by the other 50% in 1956. In 2001, Diageo purchased the company from Seagram, before selling it to Groupe Castel in 2010.
