Acacia Vineyard was founded in Carneros, California in 1979 by Michael Richmond and Jerry Goldstein. In 1986, it was sold to Chalone Wine Group for $8 million. That company was purchased by Diageo in 2005 for $260 million. Diageo sold much of its wine portfolio, including Acacia, in 2016 to Treasury Wine Estates.
